Distressing your own clothing is a great, quick and easy way to give your clothes some more edge and style. Here are my quick easy tips and tricks to distress your own clothing at home.
Step .1) Grab your tools and materials.
- clothing (denim/jean works best)
- scissors
- shaving razor
- marking tool ( chalk, pen, tape, sharpie, etc.)
- washer and dryer
Step 2.) Start marking and cutting.
- Take your clothing item and put it on, this will help you know where you want to place your cuts, and mark the places you desire with your marking tool. Once you have it marked, take the item off and being making slits in the marks.
Step 3.) Finishing the look.
- use your shaving razor and gently scrap over the slits to soften up the lines and make it look more natural and less harsh as if you didn't purposely cut up your own clothing. After you soften up the lines, throw them in the washer and dryer ( 2x is preferred ) and your now ready to rock out with your new and edgy, grungy look.
